In general, we take care, but otherwise, there is no disaster recovery for user data with the HOP message system in  case of an operational accident. 

However, SCiMMA provides a message  archive that is separately implemented from the underlying kafka service that is the basis for the Hopscotch message service. Archived data remains available in the Hopskotch backing disks are lost.  Archive data are available  through the archive API.   

• Topics are archived on an opt-in basis, current permissions for the topic are enforced for message retrieval.
• However Private messages using the large message offload fetch are always archived.
